Normally a pre-procurement activity, DQ can be extended beyond this to include ongoing Design Reviews.  These are particularly useful when following the GAMP [Good Automated Manufacturing Practice] Guide for Validation of Automated Systems, to verify that developments such as hardware and software specifications include all the prerequisites of the User Requirement Specification and the Functional Specification.
