GEP POLICY
ViP Definition
"A Site Good Engineering Practice (GEP) Policy formally documents a company's approach to the compilation of foundation engineering documentation packages for systems that may or may not impact on the quality of products produced by registered processes."
Mirroring the style of the Validation Policy, a cleverly constructed GEP Policy is a true time and cost saver. Ensuring the quality and timely availability of engineering documentation provided by the user, suppliers and contractors, it can eradicate duplication of effort during commissioning and qualification activities and avert the repeat generation of the associated unnecessary paperwork.
A properly organised and controlled policy, and engineering filing system, should render re-qualification of a system obsolete, as all necessary verification checks and tests are performed as part of preventive maintenance, and documented in a similar way to the original system qualification, but now by engineering personnel instead of the quality department.
