It can provide a soundly documented foundation for those systems, which may not be deemed to impact on product quality now, but which, at some stage in the future through site developments or expansions, may have an impact. In such cases, it is impossible to retrospectively generate records of the appropriate quality to support the system qualification and may even necessitate the erstwhile avoidable cost of re-engineering and redocumenting.
